RSHE Curriculum Intent
The Churchill RSHE curriculum aims to provide high quality RSHE that is designed to support students to be healthy and happy. As well as being completely compliant with DfE statutory RSHE requirements for England (2019), it is tailored to support our students by developing social and interpersonal skills, emotional literacy, and positive mental health. As the student’s progress throughout the school the content of each topic is carefully designed to provide age-appropriate learning. The six key areas taught in each year are:
- Being in my world
- Celebrating difference
- Dreams and goals
- Healthy me
- Relationships
- Changing me
The RSHE curriculum is supported by local nurses and both the careers and life skills curriculums. It is also linked with our PE curriculum with a focus on physical and mental wellbeing. RSHE at Churchill supports the curriculum intent by:
- Ensuring that all students are safe and understand how to stay safe
- Ensure that all students can thrive and develop as healthy individuals and good citizens
- Fosters a strength of character, and resilience that will help to cope with choices and overcome the challenges they are likely to encounter in life
Careers
Studying RSHE prepares students for life after Churchill. RSHE provides students with the necessary skills for any career path they wish to take as it is heavily linked with the career’s curriculum, and it teaches students interview skills and techniques.
